The First Divine Liturgy
On October 10, 2023, the head of the church, Archpriest Georgi Dimitrov, together with subdeacon Evgeni Trendafilov, the singers Mariela Hetimova, Plamen Mihailov, as well as our student Tsanko Tsolov, celebrated the first Divine Liturgy in the All Bulgarian Saints Orthodox Church at Todor Kableshkov University of Transport. Over 30 people attended the service, which was dedicated to the celebration of the 26 Monastic Martyrs of Zographou Monastery on Mount Athos, and 10 of them received Holy Communion.
At the end of the service, Father Georgi said the following in his sermon:
„Beloved in the Lord, brothers and sisters, on this day in the month of October, our Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of 26 holy reverend martyrs locked up and burned alive in a tower in the picturesque holy cloister “Saint Great Martyr George”.
They were burned, because they refused to change their faith. They were already burning in it.
I am glad to see you in this new church of faith, I am glad to see you at the first divine liturgy in the first church of all the saints who shone on the Bulgarian lands in the Sofia diocese, which is only the fourth, if I am not confusing the whole of Bulgaria. We really don’t honor these people enough because they are real people who lived in these lands, which is yet another proof that they are ours. Because the Lord himself says that a prophet is not without honor, except among his own. This should not disturb and worry us, but we should always remember that they are among us and are ready to help us in our infirmities and needs. They are waiting and willing to help as long as we seek them.
By their prayers, may God have mercy and save us, amen!“
The event was reported in site of the Sofia the holy metropolis by Plamen Mihailov, and there is a detailed video on YouTube, which was made by Sonia Ankova.
