SANCTIFICATION OF THE CHURCH
On September 11, 2023, in the seventh year since the beginning of our project, the efforts of everyone involved in the construction of the church were crowned with success.
With the blessing of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, the newly built All Bulgarian Saints Orthodox Church was solemnly consecrated in the courtyard of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport in Sofia.
This memorable event was officiated by His Eminence Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik – Vicar of His Holiness in collaboration with Archimandrite Euthymius, Spiritual Supervisor of the Sofia Diocese, Archpriest Georgi Dimitrov, Chairman of the Church Board of the Temple, Archpriest Iliya Pavlov, Archpriest Andon Sofiin, Archdeacon Ivan Petkov , Hierodeacon Bartholomew and Hierodeacon Polycarp.
The solemn consecration of the new prayer house was attended by the entire church board, as well as many teachers and students, guests and friends of University of Transport .
The newly built church is the first in the Sofia diocese dedicated to All Bulgarian Saints.
After the church procession for the consecration of the temple, Bishop Polykarp addressed the attendees with a short welcoming speech, expressing his gratitude to all those who worked to realize the idea of building this temple in the yard of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport. He greeted the whole crowd on behalf of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Neophytes and presented on his behalf to the temple a beautiful icon with the image of the Lord Jesus Christ, which will be and remain as a pencil memory of the event of the consecration of the temple.
The Bishop wished that the temple would be a spiritual haven for everyone, and that the lives of the Bulgarian saints would inspire faith, hope and love in those who enter its threshold. Let the lives of our saints be for all an aspiration to imitate their virtues.
Archpriest Georgi Dimitrov, as well as the rector of university – Mrs. Todorova, also expressed gratitude to all those who helped the cause and the guests.
The church trustees received letters of appreciation for their tireless labors and unceasing efforts that they put into the building of the church. They, in turn, presented the bishop with a letter of thanks for his support and prayerful intercession. The trustees also presented the superior, Father Georgi, with a new epatrihil and a holy water cross, with wishes for health and success in his liturgical activity. Certificates of appreciation and plaques were also presented to deserving persons for the temple.
Special thanks were given to Professor Petar Kolev – the previous rector of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport under whom this project was started, to engineer Velika Lalcheva, who performed the construction supervision activities of the temple, and to Mr. Kolyo Filipov, who worked on the finishing details of the building.
All those present had the opportunity to enter the temple, worship God, light a candle and, delighted by the new spiritual acquisition, wish each other health, joys in life and peace.
The church board had taken care of all those present after the service and the spiritual joy with which they supported their souls that there was a treat for bodily support as well. Catering was provided by the companies Eurocatering and ET Gergana Georgieva – Geri. Thus, this nationwide celebration of the consecration of the new small but beautiful church in the courtyard of the Todor Kableshkov University of Transport – Sofia received a worthy end.
